Goood Morning!! Its all about a connection, not necessarily about history.... Last weekend and Monday I was wallering in my misery of being sick, laying under 4 blankets secluded in my room my phone starts barking(Taylor my oldest) of course thinking he is checking on me I answer(I guess I was delusional) "Hey Mom, Mindy and I are fighting and I want you to tell her she is wrong!!" I instantly start laughing and we talk, I proceed to tell him she is right., I have a connection with Mindy that the Lord has truly blessed me with and I never thought was possible, I am a mother of boys but one day will be a mother of girls. Mindy and I do not have alot of history but we have a connection, the love of Taylor. Every Morning since moving to Idalou, we stop at the Allsups for drinks or gas, small talk with the different cashiers have taken place.... I walked this morning (very late) and the girl says..."I was wondering where you were since you have to be at work at 5:00"..... total strangers we have made a connection and her noticing my schedule made me smile, she cared. Last week, I mis spoke in one of my post and the Lord has showed me in so many ways this week I was wrong.... As I was sharing our journey, of Shelby's daughter coming into our life, I said I do not understand instant connection, I understand history. On Monday evening, I decide to come out of my quartine room and join my family for dinner and Shelby is chuckling(really annoying since I dont feel well) "What's so funny?"... He proceeds to tell me he has been talking to his daughter and mentions I have been sick and very whiny(eye roll really) and her instant reply..."I hope she punches you!!" and my heart smiles... prob. not very nice of me but this daughter that I have no history with and in 4 years I have talked to her 1 time... our precious heavenly father gave me a connection, because yes I did want to punch him. Happy Beautiful Thursday... yesterday I receive a post from a guest that ventured in yesterday for meatloaf and blueberry pie, she writes of having a tough month and very few smiles have crossed her lips...the CIG brought joy to her yesterday but the words she said mean more to me than anything..."She felt as if she were with family having a great time and she smiled." We are strangers that made an instant connection. Yes, I am a work in progress but our precious heavenly father is teaching me.....its not all about having history with someone ,its about opening up your heart and sharing a little of yourself and truly listening to others that come into your life on a daily basis....gosh they matter. What an amazing journey we are all on.....life's little lessons today make a huge difference tomorrow. I love how he gently shows me another way!!

AuthorI opened the Cast Iron Grill in October 2007. Lots of changes have happened in the last 5 1/2 years. The CIG started with 55 seats in an office building located at 18th and K. After five years, we were bursting at the seams with now 167 seats, and 24 wonderful co-workers working on top of eachother to make it happen. 2012 the Lord chose a different journey for the CIG. We relocated the CIG and opened our doors on January 2nd, 2013, just four blocks away from the old location! It has changed my world completely! All of these stories are the happenings of the people and the joy and celebration that make the CIG what it is. Archives
