Good Morning!! He doesn't call the strong.....he calls the willing. Happy Beautiful Tuesday yall, are you listening and ready?
Good Morning!!.....Just as common courtesy to my amazing guest I do not walk by a table and laugh and gaulk, ok well I try not to do this in life but sometimes my amazing guest catch me by surprise and laughter errupts loudly from me. My job everyday to greet each guest that walks into to the CIG and take them to their table. Yesterday as I am walking back up to the front to greet another guest, I find myself face to face with two adorable blond haired women with the most beautiful smiles, it is loud in this joint so when they tell me 2, I do not hear their thick heavy accents. I seat them, tell them thank you for coming in and continue on. A little bit later, I proceed to the booth right behind these two women but now following me are 2 brothers that have been apart of the CIG for along while, as I am placing menus on their table I hear a deep belly laugh coming from one of the brothers and the words.... "What in the heck is that...a peacock?" I turn to see what has caught his attention and sitting in the booth, the 2 beautiful ladies with the blond hair. One of these women had a crown of candles fanned out in the color of the rainbow perched on top of her head with the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY , looking like the feathers of a peacock...OH mylanta, yes I did..... I could not help myself.....my whole body errupted in a loud laughter. Happy Beautiful Thursday yall.....gosh this sort of stuff is right up my alley, this brings me pure joy. After I compose myself I make my way over to the festive table and boy were these two women giddy...... Their speech showered with an accent that was beautiful.....Cuban. They both had been relocated here for their husband's work. One had been here 19 years and the birthday girl, with the peacock feathers, 3 years. They spoke of their love for Lubbock, except for the dirt, and the amazing people they have encountered by living here. They radiated pure joy...... the birthday girl proudly informed me she was learning how to two step and wear cowboy boots, my boots a topic of conversation for a second. When I was parting ways to let them finish their celebration they asked if we would take their picture by the big cowboy boot in the foyer, my response was as joyful as their question. These two ladies where such a breath of fresh air, they where just "thankful" to be here, not just the CIG, but in this country and in this city....... we all grow so accustomed to our surroundings we start taking them for granted and we loose our "thankfulness". It was an awesome blessing to meet this two ladies, they brought great joy and laughter into all of us girls yesterday. As they were leaving they took pictures of signs, each other and the words I have written across the back wall. They were thankful....meeting guest like this is why I love my job.....they put my life all in perspective. Radiating joy and being thankful that is on my agenda today....how about you? laughter, joy, being thankful, yep sounds exactly what our heavenly father has for us!!

AuthorI opened the Cast Iron Grill in October 2007. Lots of changes have happened in the last 5 1/2 years. The CIG started with 55 seats in an office building located at 18th and K. After five years, we were bursting at the seams with now 167 seats, and 24 wonderful co-workers working on top of eachother to make it happen. 2012 the Lord chose a different journey for the CIG. We relocated the CIG and opened our doors on January 2nd, 2013, just four blocks away from the old location! It has changed my world completely! All of these stories are the happenings of the people and the joy and celebration that make the CIG what it is. Archives
